Purpose:

This investigation monitored soil loss associated to a number of management practices on a pineapple row crop.

Methods (brief)

Soil loss was measured at Nambour pineapple farm on slopes ranging from 3 to 6%.

Key findings (brief)

The very high soil losses associated with pineapple farming (Nambour) is caused by large rainfall volumes and high intensity storms as well as the steep slopes and poor conservation management practices associated with pineapple production.
